The behavior of the young man is detestable and may The Abundance Accelerator fill us with disgust since he repaid the kindness he received with evil behavior. We have to look at this from a different angle too. How does this apply to us? If we treat the Lord's children badly and then come before Him with pious faces and many church activities, deceiving ourselves into thinking we can make everything alright with our sacrifices and meetings, we are not much different from this young man. Unlike this father, however, God is not fooled at all. He looks straight at the heart and that is why it is written: With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth comes praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be (James 3:9-10) If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And He has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother (1 John 4:20-21) For this reason, we miss the point of the Christian life if we don't understand that it's all about love. We cannot insult others, gossip about them, spread slander about them and then come to God with religious activities. Without love, all these things are in vain and they are an abomination in His sight. It is precisely because of His everlasting love that we are called His children in the first place. He adopted us and made us His own, although we didn't do anything to deserve it. May our love for God and each other increase daily for the greatest of these is LOVE (1 Corinthians 13:13b)
