Xenograft model in zebrafish

The use of genetic screeenings for the study of human diseases is showing very positive results, since certain mutations in the zebrafish mimic the phenotype of certain human pathologies. One of the most promising fields involves the study of the hematopoietic system and development of the heart; for example, the phenotype of some mutations mimic dilated cardiomyopathy, arrhythmias, or congenital heart diseases. We have also been able to obtain mutant lines for the study of kidney diseases (eg chronic renal failure), congenital bone diseases, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, deafness, diabetes, cirrhosis or leukemia.
