oleh Eulah Pearce (2020-05-16)

Ten years after author Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson character debuted on the big screen, played by Logan Lerman, the character is heading to the small screen.

Riordan, 55, took to Twitter on Thursday in a quick video with his wife Becky, to reveal that a Percy Jackson TV series is happening on Disney Plus.

Two of Riordan's books were adapted into movies, 2010's Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief and 2013's Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, starring Lerman, who reacted to the news as well, stating, 'Excited to see this! Hope it gets the adaptation the books deserve. Congrats @RickRiordan.'

'We can't say much more at this stage but we are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the storyline of the original five-book series, starting with The Lightning Thief in season one,' he added.

It's possible the series could adapt one book each season, The Lightning Thief, followed by The Sea of Monsters, The Titan's Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth and The Last Olympian, for a five-season show, though that has yet to be confirmed.

He did assure fans that, 'Becky & I will be involved in person in every aspect of the show.'
