Bring back the keyboard flag on MacOS 12.4 Monterey

When Apple released MacOS 12.4 Monterey, it looks like a relatively small update (see "Apple release iOS 15.5, iPados 15.5, MacOS 12.4, Watchos 8.6, TVOS 15.5, and Homepod Software 15.5," May 16, 2022), but it is a small change in change Documents that have been annoyed by some users: he removed the colorful national flag related to each source of the keyboard input.

Previously, in System Preferences> Keyboard> Source input, you will see the American flag for the US keyboard, Canadian flag for Canadian English keyboard, English flag for English keyboard, and so on.

More importantly, you will also see this flag in the input menu menu, with the keyboard flag currently selected displayed as a menu icon.

With MacOS 12.4, Apple chose to replace the flag with a monochromatic block that contains code one or two characters to identify the keyboard, which is not visually different.

Apple seems to have fought against colors for many years, especially in Finder sidebar icons. However, Dering Fireball John Gruber said that "Little Birdie" told him that it was a deliberate step on Apple not to show language using the national flag.

Apple Releases Update for macOS Monterey 12.4 - It makes sense because language is not always neatly bound to countries. But why now, after a few decades present the input language this way? Especially considering that MacOS has long used these small blocks to distinguish languages that are not in accordance with countries, such as Cherokee and Uyghur, and even some languages that appear to be suitable, such as Japan and Thailand. Apart from that, there are several simple applications that can restore colorful flags to your menu bar.

Keyboard flag solution
At online Fireball, John Gruber highlighted several App Store applications to solve this problem: $ 0.99 Colorful Input Menu Flags and Switcheroo Keyboard $ 1.99. There are no applications that collect personal data. I decided to try the Switcheroo Keyboard on Gruber's recommendation because he felt it was smoother than both.
