Instead of copying as you go, make the effort in advance to make all the copies of the inserts and have them all set one day 1 of the system. If students established whatever simultaneously, it takes about 10-15 minutes to get everything in the notebook. Then you don't need to keep getting the glue scissors and sticks out. In the end you'll save time. You can have all of the inserts prepared for the students who were absent in one place. When I'm prepared ahead of time, interactive notebooks run so much more efficiently.
