Vision loss from traumatic optic nerve damage results from an injury of the focal central nervous system, and as such we must look beyond the local damage to restore it. For successful outcomes, we should consider broader treatment strategies that focus on the brain areas responsible for developing plasticity. In this way, we can encourage the development of new connections that can compensate for vision loss. ReVision Supplement
